It’s the sacred acknowledgment that beauty doesn’t cancel struggle, and struggle doesn’t erase beauty.
This is the heartbeat of everything we create.
I come to this work as a Black woman shaped by joy, grief, and generational wisdom — knowing how sacred it is to be seen in the fullness of your story. As a clinician, a healer, and a storyteller, I’ve learned that many of us move through the world carrying both tenderness and ache. We hold joy and grief in the same breath. We love deeply while still learning to protect our peace. And we often search for words that honor the complexity of our experiences.
This is where Both/And Paper Co. lives — in the spaces that greeting cards often overlook.
We create offerings for people who deserve tenderness without sugarcoating, connection without cliché, and language that makes room for truth.
Every card centers emotional integrity, spiritual grounding, and the sacredness of the human story.

In Her Words
This work is deeply personal and grounded in my professional expertiese. My name is Dr. Daryllyn Harris-Waller, and I come to this work as a Black woman shaped by joy, grief, and generations of wisdom. I am a clinician, a healer, a storyteller, and a woman learning every day what it means to hold tenderness and truth at the same time.
For more than two decades, my work as a therapist, educator, and community healer has shown me that people rarely live inside just one feeling. We are layered. We are complex. We carry beauty and struggle, clarity and confusion, grief and gratitude — often in the same breath. I have spent my life creating spaces where those layers are seen, honored, and held with care.
Both/And Paper Co. was born from that calling.
I started writing cards for people who needed language that felt honest — words that didn’t minimize the heaviness of what they were carrying or the brilliance of who they were becoming. So many greeting cards pretend that life is simple or tidy. But the truth is: many of us are navigating tenderness and transition, healing old wounds while trying to love deeply and protect our peace. We deserve words that meet us where we really are.
My writing is influenced by Christian womanist theology, ancestral memory, and the sacred lessons I inherited from the women who came before me. Their strength, their softness, their faith, and their survival live inside everything I create.
Both/And Paper Co. is the place where all of my worlds meet — my clinical work, my spiritual work, and my creative work braided together. Every card I write is an invitation to truth-telling, to tenderness, to being witnessed. My hope is that these offerings help people feel seen, held, and affirmed in their full humanity.
